National Living Wage and Minimum Wage Increase from 1st April 2022

It has been confirmed that from 1st April 2022, the National Living Wage (NLW) and National Minimum Wage (NMW) are due to rise.

NLW (those aged over 23 and over and NMW (for those of at least school leaving age) will increase to:

This is a significant increase and is in line with the plan to increase the NLW to £10.50 and extend it to workers aged 21 and over by 2024.

April 2021 rates are currently:

  • Over 23 - £8.91

  • 21-22 - £8.36

  • 18-20 - £6.56

  • Under 18 - £4.62

  • Apprentices under 19 - £4.30

  • Apprentices aged 19 and over, but in the first year of apprenticeship - £4.30
